Double Doodles

Double doodles possess the best of their parent breeds; thick, allergy friendly coats, intelligence, drive & work ethic, and of course, wonderful, loving temperaments.

A double doodle is a mix of two types of doodle. In our case we have double doodles who are mixes of lab, golden retriever and poodle and occasionally double doodles who are mixes of lab, Australian shepherd and poodle. As with any of our dogs, we are striving for the best temperaments as well as structures and coat types with these dogs.

Our double doodle program actually started with our goldador, Sparkles, about 11 years ago. The lab/godlen hybrid is commonly used in service and therapy work because of the even temperament, athleticism and work ethic these dogs possess. Sparkles was no exception to that rule. Her pups were consistently calm, even tempered dogs with intelligence and working drive. They excelled at therapy and service work and so we continued the line with her daughter Rue. Rue’s pups have also been excellent dogs. They are beautiful, eager to learn, allergy friendly and gentle, making them amazing family companions as well as emotional support, therapy and service dogs.

It is our goal for our double doodles to possess the best of their parent breeds. With thick, allergy friendly coats, intelligence, drive and work ethic, they are well suited as family companions.  Our double doodles also excel at such things as agility, flyball, therapy work and emotional support. They are just all around solid dogs and we have been very pleased with them over the years.

Our Aussie type double doodles actually began with a cross between Gemma and Hannibal. This pairing brought us some stunning pups with amazing temperaments. We were so impressed with their intelligence, eager to please attitudes and their sweet natures. We’ve repeated this mix with a litter from Lizzie and Rocco. This pairing also produced some truly gorgeous pups who are athletic, confident, allergy friendly and eager to learn. They will likely be a litter higher drive than Rue’s double doodles but they’ll be awesome companions for active families!

Our double doodles come in a variety of colors ranging from black, silver, and chocolate to more unique colors like merle, brindle and sable as well as particolor. They most often have wavy fleece coats and sometimes the curly wool coat. This makes them good choices for families with allergies. The fleece and wool coats are also low to non-shedding.  Their coats do tend to be thicker than our labradoodles’ coats so we do recommend daily brushing and regular professional grooming to prevent matting.
