1.Kongs!

Kongs are some of our favorite go-to boredom buster toys.We love them because they are so durable, easy to clean and versatile. Kong’s come in tons of sizes as well as various strengths. They’ve got regular, super chewer, puppy and senior kongs so there is something for just about every dog. We fill ours with treats and freeze them on hot days to give the dogs something to do to cool off and burn some mental energy. They also make great fetch toys since htye bounce all sorts of crazy ways and keep your dog guessing.

2. Lick Mats!

Lick mats have gotten pretty popular over the last few years and we do like them for our dogs who are NOT super chewers and or times when we can supervise those super chewers with them. Lick mats are a great way to occupy your dog during meal times so they are not tempted to beg at the table too. These can be used with various healthy snacks like peanut butter, greek yogurt, fruit purees, canned dog food. We usually pop them in the freezer as this makes them last longer. Lick mats are great for dogs with anxiety too as the act of licking is self soothing and can reduce anxiety.

4. Starmark Bob-A-Lot

We use these most often with our puppies but the adult dogs do enjoy them too. This is a puzzle toy/food dispensing toy that we have found to be super durable and great for slowing down those dogs who eat WAY too fast. Anyone else have one of those dogs who inhales their food in 2.2 seconds and you’re scared they are going to choke? This toy is for you! it can hold about 1 1/2 to 2 cups of dry kibble and since it only drops a few pieces at a time as the dog moves it, your furry friend will slow down on his meals and that’s definitely better for his digestion. It also uses some mental energy and is great for rainy days and days when you can’t get outside to exercise as much with your doggo.

5. Nylabones

These are great for times when your dog needs to be crated. Our dogs love a good chew session and the nylabone is a safe, durable treat to offer. We give them to our dogs when they are crated so they have something to occupy their time and we love that they come in different textures, strengths and even flavors. They also come in tons of sizes so there’s a Nylabone for every dog

6. Himalayan Chews

While we will admit these are a littel pricy, they are ade of yak and cow milk so they are high in protein, calcium and other nutrients. So, in addition to being a great, long lasting chew, they are a healthy snack for your furry friend as well. They also contain very little lactose so they are easy on your pup’s tummy too AND they are naturally gluten and grain free! Our dog’s love the taste and we love that we can give these confidently, knowing they are a safe, healthy treat!

7. Nina Ottoson Dog Puzzles

We have purchased several of these over the years and we love the variety and the different difficulty levels. We suggest you start with the easier puzzles and work your dog up to the higher level puzzles as they understand better what is expected. No need to frustrate Fido right off the bat! We also suggest these be supervised toys as. most have moving parts that could be broken off and chewed up if the dog is not monitored with them. These are great for expending some mental energy though, so a fantastic rainy day activity or meal time activity for your pup!
