Today’s Monday Mayhem post is really more like a compilation of the crazy stuff Ellie has done over the years. There is a reason her registered name is Creekside’s Hurricane Ellie. This girl has woven a path of destruction through my life for the past 6 years. She was a fireball as a puppy and was constantly into something, most often things she should not be getting into. She DESPISES crates and kennels, frequently destroying them in her need to be free and run amok all over my house.

She decided one day when she was about 2 years old, to open Caleb’s tackle box full of hooks and lures, dump it all over my garage.. quite probably looking for catfish bait. In her mad dash through the tackle box, she found one of those giant fish shaped lures with the 3 pronged hooks at both ends.. tried to chew it and managed to get the fish hook stuck in her lip/tongue. Emergency call to the vet and a trip in to have the hook removed was in order. Of course this happened at 4:50 in the afternoon when the vet was set to close at 5pm. Thanks so very much to the staff at Tender Care for staying and taking care of my girl.

A few months later, I let the dogs out in the backyard for a potty break/playtime and went to check on them a few minutes later, Ellie was sitting in a patio chair with a HUGE L-shaped gash in her left rear thigh.. Just chillin in a chair like nothing happened. I look at her and gasp “OMG Ellie.. what did you DO?” She hops down and walks in the house like nothings is wrong while I once again phone the vet.  Another emergency trip to the vet for stitches. My vet decided he thinks she cut herself on the gutter downspout, which in retrospect, the dogs HAD knocked it loose and it WAS exactly the same shape as the wound. How in the world did that even happen?? Did she have one of her four legged friends hold it up and ram herself into it? Girl has a flair for the dramatic and a talent for hurting herself. That particular wound had to be restitched 3 times because she is such a busy, hard to keep calm dog.

I cannot even count the number of times I have had to force peroxide down her gullet because she has eaten things that are NOT edible.. bras, underwear, socks, dog toys, bits of plastic, her own damned collar after a bath….she is seriously like a flipping hurricane of destruction and chaos. Its a good thing that she is also so very sweet, lovable and social. She drives me crazy and needs constant supervision but she makes beautiful pups who are wonderful therapy dogs and family companions. She loves life and her people and her doggie friends. Who knows what she has in store for me this year.. wish me luck people!
